Community Living.

We provide a home for people over the age of 60 with a housing, financial and social need, wishing to live independently in a community environment.

The Hugh Gore Institute is a historic almshouse and a housing charity in Waterford City. We provide a home for people over the age of 60 who meet our eligibility criteria and wish to live independently while also being part of, and contributing to our community. Residents live in their own private apartments, but what makes us distinctive isn’t just our historic setting but our sense of community, and the provision of support by our dedicated team who help you maintain your independence.

Our residents have a wide variety of interests, skills and experiences and find many different ways to enjoy community life including art classes, coffee mornings or helping in the garden.
